Thanks guys.   Bent the 3 inch heliax out straight without incident.  Heated it with a hair dryer.   No kinks or egg shape.   But sure required a lot of muscle wrestling with it.

It’s now connected to a new motorized coax transfer switch to select one of two transmitters, one a back-up.

My first reaction is... it works!  Don't fix it! ;)

But... remember to re-route it properly if/when it gets replaced because of failure or otherwise. :)

I would think that somewhere well above room temp would be fine.  You just wouldn't want to try to bend it with the plastic really cold.

How warm?  I can take up hair dryer, heat gun, and IR thermometer.  It has a black jacket over the copper.

Maybe make sure that section is pretty warm before trying to straighten, just my 1/2 cent worth of advice.

Be careful. That’s a tight bend for sure

Re-working RF plumbing at an installation, want to straighten a 90 degree bend near end of in 3 inch 50 ohm corrugated Heliax.    I think it is HJ8-50B, but not sure.  Existing Cable bend has about a 20 inch radius, recommended radius is no less than 30 inches.   It is working fine with the 20 inch radius and is pressurized.

Would I be safe to straighten the bend?   Would straightening cause damage requiring cutting off the bend and adding cable?   Of course work needs to be done while off air, just want to know how long we will be off, etc.
