Aphex Compellor, Symetrix 422, a dbx product I can’t recall the name of, anything that will do a slow gain riding type of AGC, leaving the fancy stuff presumably farther down the chain (Optimods, Omnias, Innovonics stuff) to catch the sudden changes.  With the Compellor, I find I like the faster option rather than the slower, especially for talk.
