Yes but I made anew email and pasted the subject line in so that it would be read (by us humans) as part of the previous thread. This was done for testing purposes only. And this true response sent by hitting reply will end up in my (and I assume at least some others) junk mail folder.

don't go by just the 're' in the subject. there's metadata in the email header that also identifies the thread, ie whether it's new or reply.
And the reply did go to junk. This email says RE in the subject but is actually a new email. Lets see what happens now.
