This engineer takes a short spring golf vacation with my golf buds and a long fall vacation with my wonderful wife. Vacations are sometimes scheduled around projects but are mandatory as far as I am concerned.
Destin is about 50 miles from the western eye wall landfall point and had off shore winds in the high tropical storm range. Very little beach erosion, very little wind damage, very few power outages. Drive 30-40 miles east of Destin, between Seagrove/Sea Side and Panama City and it is a whole different ball game.
Absolutely horrible devastation. Michael will probably be upgraded to a Cat5 hurricane based on damage assessments in Mexico Beach, FL.
Vacation? Do you mean that some radio engineers get a vacation? LOL!
I figured Destin might be washed away by Michael. At least it is on the west side of where the eye traveled meaning less rain and storm surge due to how the feeder bands work.
Enjoy the distraction from work while you can!
I am headed the opposite direction... Leaving this afternoon for a weeks vacation in Destin FL. I have been trying to get to Madison for years but haven't made it yet.
Whos going to Madison Broadcasters clinic next week?
