One thing that I found frustrating with the Plus Touch, was that the relays only had two modes: Momentary and latching. They didn't "follow" the "button" press at the studio end. The old legacy system (TC-8) did. If you held that button for 30 seconds, the remote relay stayed closed for that full time. Not so with the Plus Touch. :(

I designed some systems at the tx site that were "oops-proof" meaning that in order to initiate a switch of transmitters, you would select the proper channel on the old TC-8, and hold either DOWN or UP for over 5 seconds. Only then, would the transmitter switch engage. A press/release did nothing.

The Plus Touch, you could set a confirmation dialog to pop up on any command button click... but it was ALL or NOTHING. You can't select only ONE button to require confirmation. Have fun trying to "tweak" the transmitter power adjustment with THAT happening every time! ;)

Sometimes, there's something to be said for the old legacy gear... it could be VERY reliable when taken good care of.

My 3c worth. ;)

I have mixed feelings about the Burk gear myself. At a complex site
that is fully integrated with the relay and analog I/O panels the
labor to re-wire it all is significant. so the conversions to the
newer Burk models seem to me to make some sense. I have one site like
this, at which I installed an ARCPlus Touch. I'm not in love with it
but it does work and can be configured to be much more flexible that
the old ARC system that we replaced.
