Kind of along this same line, I am looking for a used [hopefully almost free] single phase electric meter box. I have a used, 120V single phase watt-hour meter I would like to make into the base for a table lamp. Then every time the lamp turns on, the meter "wheel" begins to spin.

A guy made one for my son. It becomes quite a curiosity.

Dear sirs:

I have kept a very clean single cart deck for the purposes of creating a desk lamp.

All you need is a "goose-neck" microphone stand mounted on the top cover of the deck.  Place a functional lamp fixture on the top of the microphone stand.  Throw on a lamp shade (possible decorated in a radio theme).  You can tap the 120VAC off the cart switch to supply the output.  When you place a cart into the deck ... you get light!  Saw it in a PDs office and snagged the idea, when we were junking the decks.

Maybe you could create a number of these potential lamps and sell them on eBay!  Radio buffs would probably make it worth you while!

Don’t expect to get a lot for them, but there are a few collectors out there which might give them a good home, especially if they’re a well-respected brand like BE, ITC, Gates, etc.

Hello All,

After cleaning out a storage unit, my boss brought to our station a mass of old cart tapes and machines.  He thinks they hold some value and would like them listed on Ebay.  Though, I think it would just be a waist of time. Any thoughts??
