It appears to me that HD radio is barely on the radar for most consumers, and even if they know what it is, there isn’t much demand for it.

I am running HD. FM of course. But it does 2 things...improved signal, (audiowise and no multipath) and provides a second channel which we use for Spanish along with a translator
