Problem was, and remains, the extortionary fees for licensing the technology.  The FCC should have purchased the license for all stations to go for it.

I suspect the biggest problem was lack of marketing to a mainly uninformed market. But I'm glad the hash is going away.

Here in Los Angeles, there's not much HD left on AM.  Off the top
of my head, I know that these stations have dropped it.

570, 640, 710, 830, 1020, 1110.

790 turns HD off at night, but 980 and 1070 still run it full time.

Last night I drove home after an FMeXtra install in the High Desert, and
the only AM HD I heard were 980 and 1070, plus KSL 1160 in Salt Lake
City.  There used to be a lot more HD hash messing up the AM band at

I do some work in Albuquerque and there is no HD AM left there.
