Thread-topic: [CRTech] Older Adobe Audition on Win 7

Thanks for the link to upgrade to 3.0.

Last year I discovered we couldn't register the software, so this link will be very helpful. w

Here is the link you can use to download and install audition 3 without activation. You will require an ADOBE ID to login and download the files. This is intended for legal license owners only.

If you legitimately own the audition 3 software license, adobe released serial numbers and an installer that would work after they de-activated the license servers years back.

I have run 1.5  on 7 for years with no issues. When I have clicks and pops I run the DPC latency tool from  https://thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml last I checked it did not work properly on windows 8 or newer, but works fine on 7 and older.

My issues in the past have mostly been a bios setting called speed step, or EIST, which throttles the cpu frequency based on load, disable this and the problem goes away Usually. Otherwise high DPC latency is usually caused by a misbehaving driver, in one case a wireless network card…..

Hello Andy,

My experience has been that the older versions of Audition has not been stable in the Windows 7 environment. Years ago we upgraded to 2.0, and that works well for me in Windows 7.

However, I have seen the glitches you describe when using 2.0 in Windows 10. This caused me to upgrade to 3.0, which works ok with Windows 10.

Recently, after introducing another computer, we discovered that we could no longer register our Adobe software. This forced me up upgrade to the newest version of Adobe, which I completely hate. I fear the day when we will have to replace our studio computers, and thus replace our recording software.

I have used adobe for over 15 years, so I am not even sure what I will use in the future. I figure it will be audacity, which is looks and feels somewhat like the very early versions of Adobe Audition.

Is anyone successfully running Adobe Audition 1.0 or 1.5 on Windows 7?

We recently had a new computer built for our main production computer,
running Win7 Pro. Audition installed fine and works, but we are having a
sporadic audio issue. I have no idea if it's a problem with Audition
because it's an older program, not built for Win7, or with the sound
card. It's a brand new AudioScience 5811 card, with driver 4.20.12. I
already upgraded from version .10 to .12 with no change. I see they
posted another driver upgrade a couple weeks ago, so I will give that a
try as well.

Audition records and plays back flawlessly *most* of the time. Then just
randomly it will put a prominent click into the recording. The clicks
are not evenly spaced or even the same pitch or duration. They really
sound very much lick a click/pop from a vinyl record. On very rare
occasions it will miss or garble a partial word. Sometimes I can record
for quite a while and get no clicks. Then I might get two or three in a
minute-long recording. We had previously run Audition 1.0 for years on
XP with no issues. I had bought a used version of 1.5 to try out, and
ended up going back to 1.0 because of a couple of small (unrelated)
annoyances. Both versions displayed this behavior.

Has anyone seen this issue with either older Adobe software on Win7 or
with newer ASI cards? Any suggestions on where to look? The computer is
a brand new box with plenty of horsepower and ram. Audition is the only
thing running, so it shouldn't be an issue of resources.
