By the way, I know this is not an ideal solution, but the wireless ISP is not an ideal solution either and the site is 80 miles from home base.

So among the various garbage options, this one is the least painful, and was amazingly cheap.

Anything reasonable to keep the remote access running so the automation at the site can have its logs, weather, and spots updated reliably.

One of my former stations has a timer that restarts the wireless modem every day at about 0500.

Has reduced problems dramatically at the site, and reduced short-fuse trips because of connectivity to almost zero.

Tom:

I should have mentioned that I need something to automatically reboot a modem-router at a site where there is no phone line to activate a remote A.C. switch.  We are talking about a site that has an air card or some flavor of wireless card.

Thanks!

BTW,

On all of these IP controls AC strips. I have several in use. I have the remote control, STL, exciter, transmitter site computer and Internet router on these. You are given a choice to turn on, turn off and reboot ( a 2 second dropping of power). What ever you do, if you just did a router update, make sure you pick a reboot, and not a "turn off". Ask me how I know!

You've been warned. :)
