The other thing I've encountered once or twice - and I'm not sure if temp related or not - is that the few blank screens I've seen to date have had the contrast setting set to the minimum limit. Definitely you should be able to get in through the AUI regardless of what the front panel display is doing.

Just to add a little bit of humor to this dialogue, when I came across this subject just now, my screen reader made it sound like it said overeating problem. Then I saw one of the messages and thought that that didn’t make sense given what you guys were talking about. :-)

I recommend having more control over your system and alarms. The absolute most simple solution is to hang a basic thermostat on the wall wired to your transmitter interconnect switching so if the temp gets too hot, it shuts off the tx. I have alarms that tell me when the room temps at transmitters go over 80. I monitor temps on screen as well as have control over a couple of the AC units remotely. When I see a temp rising, I lower transmitter power to see if I can keep it on and below 90 deg until I get there to fix it.

just some thoughts...

Also a VS-1.  Had to go back to the factory for repairs.  It shut down somewhere around 122°F.

Yep- a VS1, but not only was the display blank, it completely shut down.  I was surprised the NX-6 in the building was still cranking out over 5kW when the room temp had reached almost 140 deg.

Anyone here have a newer Nautel that was in a small space where the AC failed? The UI screen is blank, but I think it's on - just no characters.  I suspect the temp when we got there was over 120 in the room. The transmitter is on and I believe it's at the same power level where I left it last. I just can't see anything and I have no control. Can I plug a computer in the interface and see the control stats and menu?
