I remember that "we bumped it up to help a station" event, and how it affected everyone. ;)
Installing a basic AGC unit on the SNN audio feed is a good idea.
I have observed audio levels varying from "normal" to as much as 20dB below "normal". Sometimes, with several short programs that feed consecutively, one will have normal levels, the next -20 dB or so. The AGC helps, but this is AFTER the AGC. I've seen it
happening now and then for quite some time.
