Hi Jerry,

We will look into that. I assume you are taking a live satellite feed, and not an FTP file?

Hello Barry,

This is Jerry Kotzman, station manager of KDKR/KYJC here in D/FW/Commerce.  We've, at times, experienced a drop in level with Line of Fire/Dr. Michael Brown.  I monitored the previous program and its levels are stronger.

I don’t know off the top of my head what reference level is being used (not at the office right now) but plan to verify that we are where we should be and will let you all know the results. We have not intentionally changed reference level recently.

Hello Barry Walters,

I’m Mark Allard – Network Audio Engineer at Faith Radio Network - University of Northwestern.

Earlier today, I took some measurements of peak levels coming off or our Unity4K tuned to SNN Left.

Here is what I posted on CRTech:

Here’s my evaluation:

In the past, I’ve found the maximum output before clipping of the U4K has been +18dbu.

As of the last 5 minutes, SNN peaks are hitting +15dbu.

Let’s see if someone from Salem can elaborate.

Mark Allard

As the saying goes, “I love standard.  There are so many to choose from.”

In reference to Salem’s Aphex Compellors, what are your spec’s for setting the Output levels to your modulator for the SNN program channel?

As an example: I typically shoot for 6db below clipping.

Hello all,

My name is Barry Walters and I’m the Director Engineering for Salem Radio Network and understand there have been some issues with program levels reported. Unfortunately the forum archives are down right now, so I will need to get copies of today’s post from someone already subscribe here at Salem. In the meantime, we will re-verify our levels here in Dallas. We use Aphex Compellors on all program channels and have had good luck with the controlling of our outgoing levels. I’ll jump back on the forum once this is done and we’ll try to find out where this is happening. In the meantime feel free to contact me when you hear any problems. My contact info is below.

Thanks again!
