I got a similar request to adjust levels. We were recording and sounding good at -4db until the weekend. Our automation self normalizes all audio played out, but it was distorting into the recorder. I've got it set at -8 now along the chain to the recorder. Our XDS doesn't have attenuation settings that I'm aware of.

Here’s my evaluation:

In the past, I’ve found the maximum output before clipping of the U4K has been +18dbu.

As of the last 5 minutes, SNN peaks are hitting +15dbu.

Let’s see if someone from Salem can elaborate.

Andy,

We noticed it too on the SNN channel of the U4K feed. It seems to be around 6 dB increase. This happened just before the weekend too. I remember hearing recently on CRTech that SRN had changed levels after a request from a station. I don't know why that was considered necessary and I don't know if it was changed back later. We were set on -9 dB on the receiver and now we are at -14, the maximum attenuation. Maybe we can hear from SRN on this???

Is it on my end, or has anyone else noticed a drastic increase in levels on SRN News? Or if it's permanent?  We take the Non Com feed, plus sports and business, and everything has been really hot recently. Seems like it just got worse too in the last few days. I am NOT having the same issue with the several feeds daily that we record from SR5.

Last time I noticed a big level increase, I reprogrammed all my switch commands to attenuate the receiver (and switch it back for other stuff) and then the levels changed back, so I had to undo it all. Seems like this has been going on for several weeks now.
