Thanks to everyone who replied on both lists. I got connected as below. Apparently either the rack mount computer, transmitter, or both have sensing because a straight through cable works. Nautel's final paperwork has a password on it, but no user name. Had to call them and found that the user name is Nautel and no password required. That worked and I got into the AUI.

Had to call again about setting up the schedule for month to month day/night power changes, but the after hours guy had a strong accent and I could not follow him. Again, the manual is pretty useless :( Needs more specific steps. So I'll call again today when I get out there.

Through the front panel menu, you can set an IP address in the Network
Settings.

10.10.10.10 - typical IP
255.255.255.0 - typical mask
10.10.10.1 - typical gateway (not required if there's no internet)

If there was ever internet at the site, of course your IP schema would have to match that to get to the outside world.

So, if you set the TX to that, then set your laptop to 10.10.10.5 for instance, then you should be able to open any browser (after clicking "allow flash to run") and AUI will load up for you.

AM. FM. AUI is pretty similar except the various (obvious) differences.

I'm really stumped trying to get this NX5 running right. The manual gives
the most useless information "get IP address, gateway, DNS, etc from your
IT manager".

Although there's no internet at the AM site, I've set up a local Win7 Pro
computer and hooked it directly to the NX5, and hope to see the AUI so I
can set up the monthly day/night times, which seems impossible to do from
the front of the transmitter. Choosing "Schedule" doesn't open any options
that I can find.

Another issue is the analog audio sensitivity which is factory set at the
standard +10 dBm. Changing it from the front of the transmitter makes no
difference at all and our STL maxes out at 8dBm so I can't modulate to 100%
negative. Pushing the STL xmtr doesn't help because it overmodulates, and
closes the receiver squelch :(

Never having worked with any Nautel xmtr, I expect the problem is mostly
me; besides, I'm an FM guy. So I need help from all y'all who know
Nautel's quirks.
