Thread-topic: my embarrassing story [off topic]
Once upon a time when my ears were in better shape, I was working at the station when all of a sudden, out of nowhere a high pitched tone was everywhere.  I went into the studios -- it was there.  I went into the Automation Room -- it was there.  I went into the music library -- it was there.  Until finally someone stopped me and said, "It's you!"  My pager was putting out a constant tone around 1500Hz that was bouncing off of everything and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  Being I thought I had good ears, that little episode pricked my pride.

Good story, Sherrod.  That was entertaining.

(I hope the attachment comes through)

Attachment came through fine.

Brings back memories of the first station where I worked … I had my hands inside the console working with the lid up on our Autogram while the station was on-air, and my pager set to “stun" mode buzzed suddenly from an incoming page.

Since I had previously worked for an electrician and was unfortunately familiar with the buzzing/tingling feeling of getting bitten by 120VAC, my already-heightened sense of vulnerability (since it was just about my first time working on the board while it was on the air) immediately made me think I was getting shocked because of the pager’s vibration on my waist.

After a yelp and instinctive jump back from the console, I sheepishly looked around to see if anybody had seen my reaction…. But the coast was clear, and I got back to work once the adrenaline dissipated.

Ah, yes… old-school stuff.  <Smile>
