Kevin is spot on (pun intended) with SPL.

I *am* affiliated with them, in that I have half a dozen stations using their systems and they perform as advertised.

There are the higher end programs as mentioned by someone else but I have a couple of clients using Station Play List Creator Pro.  They have different versions that start at about $65 with the full featured pro level about $300.  The thing that I especially like about it is that it will scan designated folders for music cuts and then schedule them based on your criteria and their metadata.

Is it as flexible as Selector or Natural Music?  No.  But it will generate a simple playlist based on your criteria.

I am not associated with SPL in any way but find their simple, very reasonably priced automation products very handy in certain situations.

I have a 2 hr syndicated show, and I now have a rotation of over 1200 songs.  With two hours per week, it's going to be a while for all the songs to get played.

Back in the old days we used cue cards, but now I'd like to have a playlist for the next 100 shows based on 3 to 5 categories and the typical rules about not playing too many songs by the same artist in a single show.

I also have info on each song like beats per minute and intensity, and I'd like to factor those kind of rules into it as well.

I don't need production software, although that may be the only way to find a playlist generator.  Windows based please. Updatable database in a non proprietary format.

Any suggestions?
