I haven’t had one chatter, but did have one fail that was fixed by replacing a bad cap on the power supply board. Those units are getting old enough to have caps go bad. The cap I replaced was the largest one, 150 ufd, 400 VDC. The bad cap was physically bulging, easy to identify without a cap tester.

Subject: [CRTech] Unity 4000 Problem
One of my oldest customers, engineer and friend has a Unity 4000 rx that started doing odd things a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had time to get to his site and may not for another week or two.
It started dropping audio intermittently, with a wildly fluctuating EB and then more than intermittently and now just sits and to use his term, "chatters". He originally checked the LNB, cable, etc, etc but nothing seemed to cure the increasing drop outs. Now it appears to be mostly dead and I assume that the "chattering" sound that he is hearing is one or more relays closing.
Anybody ever saw a power supply in the 4000 cause something like this? Is the PS replaceable? Any idea on a part #?
