Thread-topic: [CRTech] BARIX Exstreamer 100 Drop Outs.

My assumption is an issue with the internet service provider(s).  I subscribe to an inexpensive monitoring service so I know exactly when there’s an issue with the provider (and a log that I can use to make the ISP fix the issue).  You’ll want to monitor both the studio and the transmitter sites.  If the issue is impacting multiple remote sites, the issue might be at the studio.

I use this service:

The cost is $11.52/yr per site.

This is an external email. Please consider the risks before clicking links or opening attachments.

Adding to Don’s post, you may want to see if your router has a QOS settings for certain ports. That would allow you to give a higher priority to the port the Barix is using. (Don’t put much else if anything on that same port.) This is what’s done for VoIP systems so you don’t get drop-outs on phone calls.

Can you put this on it’s own very  internet , Tieline would tell us to do this for reliable service. temporarily, DSL, or wireless mifi pack , so Barix is the only service on that internet service.

All of us have  run into this in the past, sounds like a server , or computer, s  are  updating  at that time in the evening, hogging the data . lots of users on cable systems

Too at that time of the  evening,  Just FYI.

Hello group.

I am forwarding a question from our G.M. sent 4/27/18.

Hi Group-

Our present challenge in East Central Missouri:  Anyone else had this problem?  For the past 3 months or longer, we have had modulation drop outs using 1 BARIX Instreamer and 3 Exstreamer 100s to feed 3 simulcasted FM outlets.  Many dropouts occur momentarily- to several minutes in duration; usually between 8 PM and 10 PM every evening; but sometimes at other times. We are at the end of things to check, except choosing another manufacturer, which would be expensive. We have tried the following:

1. Checked cabling connections.

2. Replaced BARIX units;

3. Replaced Internet router.

4. studied Internet buffering usage by others.

5 Checked and expanded our Internet connection (bandwidth, etc.)

6. Discussed with BARIX experts.

7. Verified BARIX settings and Firmware for conpatibility (?).

8. Checked AC power warts.

9. Enlisted other local engineer's suggestions. The problem appears to be common to the Instreamer end.

But still, no correction.

Our listenership cannot and will not accept this condition, which degrades the effectiveness for the Gospel in our area.

Anyone else had this problem, or any suggestions?
