Scott,

This antenna is a "temporary" solution (and we all know how those grow to be permanent...) until a new tall tower can be built to replace the current short AM tower.  The owner is pleased with the current coverage and retuning a 4 bay is not a trivial process.  The tower replacement project is slated for 2019.  The owner has decided to apply the several thousand dollars that it would probably cost to retune to the approaching FM tower project.  This antenna will become a backup at that point and we will make some adjustments at that time.

Actually, you really should get a tower crew up there to lower the VSWR.  Had a Shively 6813 medium power single bay that we lowered from 1.08 to 1.00 and got several extra miles of fringe coverage out of the deal.  You might think what you have is OK, but likely it’ll be even better.

I installed a 4 bay Versa2une and was very pleasantly surprised with it's performance.  The VSWR isn't as good as I would have liked for it to be (about 1.22:1) but it exceed our coverage expectations.  We were going to reschedule the tower crew to sweep and re-tune the antenna but have decided to leave it as is due to the good coverage and low multi-path.
