I prefer the ELO touchscreens vs. Viewsonic, but both have worked for us. With the touchscreen, you can have both touch control or mouse control. We install touchscreen, mouse & keyboard (no human can actually use a soft keyboard) in our studios that
use them, and only on the system that runs the automation/live assist/playout software. Conventional monitors and/or KVM switches work for the rest. Wireless keyboards/mice work fine if the machine is local. Haven't tried them yet via KVM extender, but
should think that would work, too.
Oh, and don't forget to periodically check the touchscreen calibration, otherwise it's the "fat finger follies."

We are getting ready for a major studio overhaul and were wondering what you are using for monitors in your studios and what your jocks prefer (or if they do). Touch screens vs. mouse operated?
