If nearby is a just a few miles, I've used the Nanostation M2 and the Outdoor AP for some short hops.  I am only using these in applications of less than 1000 feet, but they advertise miles.  They are cheaper than the rockets, but the rockets give you a narrower beam, higher gain, etc.  Very reliable.  I put a pair on an island for a missionary so he can use his internet at the studio back at his house.

Hey Guys:

Are you using Ubiquiti ethernet radios at your station?

I would love to know the application and the model numbers of the equipment you are using as well as your satisfaction with using them.  I would also like to know an approximate cost.

I have a future project in mind.  Thinking about streaming audio from a studio to a nearby transmitter site.
