Ah, very interesting! A nice thing about the C= computers is once you had the master program code written and debugged, you could burn it to a 27xx series EPROM. With a little clever code, you could essentially make it see the ROM as a "cartridge" and have the system come up running if it had to be reset. Amazing what could be done with a little American Ingenuity! ;)

The C128 would automatically boot from a floppy that had the proper files. That's how I set up my little kludge. If there was a power glitch, the clock would be zeroed. The system waited and flashed a big colorful warning on the screen, so someone could set the clock to get the system back on track. Thankfully, I don't remember that happening very often. :)

It is cool to reminisce about the old tech that we worked with... and to be THANKFUL for the much more advanced tech we have now. (I know, it's a mixed blessing, at times!)

Mark A. That was so fun to read; maybe not so much fun to live through!
My memories were a slightly newer vintage of "Syste-mation" with stacks of Tascam 234 4-track cassettes and Commodore 64 computers.
