​Well, reading this and the links, I canna help but quote my favorite Engineer of all...

I will be following this story with careful and cautious interest! Seeing as this bug is OS agnostic, means not even Linux systems are safe! :(

The "fix" causing a 30% reduction in speed on many systems seems like a rather DRASTIC stop-gap, too!​ :( (No wonder Linus Torvalds is "less than happy"!)

Now, I wonder... what about older systems that are still perfectly adequate? (P4, Socket 478, 3Ghz, Hyperthreading.) How far back into the Intel CPU line does this vulnerability reach? Will we have to replace MANY machines, since it's probably very unlikely they will re-make these older CPU's? :( Hopefully, this issue doesn't go too far back.
