That's true, and I believe that's the case with both the Siglent and the Instek mentioned.  So if you really need a hyper-critical piece of test equipment, maybe these aren't the 'droids you're looking for.  But as a general troubleshooting aid, I've found the Siglent to be just dandy.

Some of those low end scopes share thatvresolution amongst all channels. So 1GS/s on one channel but 500MS/s if using two and 250 MS/s using 4.....

Not sure about either of those scopes in particular but it is something to watch out for.

Oh! How did I miss that one? ;)

Curious... does it feature a built-in frequency counter? That would be a VERY handy, time-saving feature! The unit I posted my interest in, says it has this function and also has "cursors" that can be set to read amplitude and/or time.

Anything else you can tell me, I'm very curious! :)

I also wonder about the resolution at higher frequencies... 1Gs/s means there are only TEN samples per "~" wave of a 100Mhz signal, and only FIVE at 200Mhz! (Obviously, that's the trade-off for these low-cost instruments.)

It is pretty.  I'm sure it will work just fine.

But I bought one of these some time ago... a little less damaging to the pocketbook. ;-)

To the Braintrust:

It looks like I've got a serious contender for my C'mas present to myself. ;) (Yes, the Mrs. approved it!) ;)

Does anyone here have hands-on experience with this model or brand?

Thanks! :)
