I have been using PFSense for around 10 years in various settings. It’s Open Source, and will run on a variety of hardware options. At my previous company, we had around 70 remote locations up on them with tunnel back to our data center (which ran PFSense on a refurbished Dell 1950 we had available, a bit overkill).
I had been using single board PC’s with CF cards from Soekris Engineering, but earlier this year they discontinued development and US sales, so I have yet to find a replacement system. Anything with multiple nics will work.

Subject: [CRTech] vpn router/ firewall/ dual WAN
Looking to replace our aged ADTRAN netvanta 2300 router with something more modern, gigabit, and Dual WAN failover capable.
Looking at ubiquiti, (we have a couple of their unifi 48 port poe switches) they have a unifi gateway, and the edge router series. Could also go with used cisco (cablesandkits.com has good prices and offers a 1 year warranty).
Any other recommendations? What are you using.
I need dual wan, and this router is also providing VPN acces to remote users who then use vnc to get where they need to be, and also sits between the automation LAN and OFFICE LAN…..
