Here's a general question for discussion...

My home computer's SSD just suddenly failed. No warning. Walked into the room to see the BSOD. Reset... "Hard Drive Not Found"

Pull plug, power back up: "Hard Drive Not Found" (Oh no!!!)

I'm just wondering if it's more common for "errors" to occur before an outright "toes-up" failure, or are we sometimes just going to get broadsided like this?

The kicker is, just the NIGHT BEFORE, I thought about the fact that I needed to make another backup... but a short time later, i powered down the computer. Thought about that backup, and dismissed it... "I'll do it tomorrow." (Famous last words!!)

Thankfully, my last backup was in April, and I had a slower, spinning drive I could restore it onto... and so I did. (Awaiting the UPS man with the SSD replacement drive.) Only a small amount of files were actually lost... but DAG-NABBIT WABBIT!!! IF ONLY I obeyed that "still small voice" the night before! :(

Happy Thanksgiving, all!
