Once upon a time, I received a new transmitter, tuned to 91.9. Only thing was our licence kind of said we should be on 91.1 -- Oops! [I caught it before hitting the big switch] Accidents can happen, but ours wasn't from Nautel. I would trust Nautel to be better than that. But...

Unless the Rules have changed, you cannot use a common air-cooled dummy load to determine power. It must be done with a water-cooled Calorimitor load. With it all operating, you measure the amount of water flowing thru the load and the temperature rise. From that info, you calculate the BTUs per minute of heat being generated from the RF. Only then can you calculate the power, which is equal to the amount of power being turned into heat.

I had a similar clock in my Novice ham radio days (1966-67). Willie, I just can’t believe you hadn’t run into one of them before now!

Oh yeah, had a Tymeter, too. That’s the mechanical digital one that was popular in the 70s. One AM radio station I worked for had one. We set it so the minute turned over at :30, rounding up.

My clocks are all displaying 24 hour time so if they stop they are only right once a day!
