At Telos' recommendation, we set the remote xNode (on the other end of the AirFiber link) to "always slave" in the Sync/QOS config. We do have a Cisco core switch at the studio, so that's not a problem.
After configuring the RF to full duplex, using two very empty channels, we set the modulation scheme to 2x QPSK MIMO. This gave us 44Mbit/sec of capacity in each direction.
Two livewire streams are flowing to the other end of the AirFiber link. Thusfar we have not enabled any streams coming back to the studio, but would like to do so in the future if we get this thing stable... but every minute or so, the SYNC light on the
xNode starts flashing, indicating it's not synced close enough to the master clock at the studio. When this happens, I can hear audible blips on the remote end. Not extremely bad, but they are there.
I'm sure this is just a checkbox or some setting in Ubiquiti... but I've played and not figured anything out... Another issue is that the AirFiber 5 manual was written for an older version of the config webpages. The new version 4.0 firmware completely
changed the look and feel of it, so it's harder to translate the manual into reality.
Anyone well versed in Ubiquiti config have any advice to share?

EMF is feeding Livewire over a Ubiquiti Rocket 5 link. Don’t plan on much other traffic unless you VLAN the link. We cannot connect to the FAX transmitter over
the link with Livewire running. They do not have an Axia programmed core switch on this setup which I think may help as Livewire lives at IGMP level. Also, do not use the “live” (low delay) as it sucks up a lot of resources.
We are running Livewire over Ligowave unlicensed 5 GHz radios for the STL in Helena as part of the studio Livewire network and they do ok. Here there is a core
switch that acts as traffic cop. They have 6 Livewire streams. IMHO the core manged switch programmed to Livewire protocol is the key to making everything happy. We don’t run standard LAN traffic on these links as the Livewire takes hits.
In Taznania I am running Telos Z/IP Ones over an AirFiber 24 on an 8 mile hop. I set the Ethernet ports to 100 mbs rather than Auto with would go to 1 Gbs.
That stabilized a few drop outs. Also, reduce the bandwidth as much as possible to get a more robust carrier.
Yes you can do it. No, it is not plug and play in my experience.
My 2 cents worth on a Friday. Now on to something simple like Barix over a Ubiquiti NanoBridge. But the manager wants to use public internet to get the Barix
from the studio to the NanoBridge because the church has trees on the path. Sigh.

I saw a video from Kirk Harnack at Telos doing that but I don’t recall if he showed all the details. I’d contact him since I think he’s feeding more then a couple transmitters with Livewire over an AirFiber.

Anyone have a dead-simple step-by-step for getting Livewire working over a Ubiquiti AirFiber link? Including any specific settings needed in the xNodes and the AirFiber radios?
Assisting another engineer in setting up my first one on Monday, and want to be prepared. :)
