I recently switched my home phone to an old MagicJack Plus/Go that I've had since working in China and India. At that time it was to have an L.A. local number on my desk while overseas, but now I'm saving big bucks with MJ since I almost never use my home phone, but some nice people (besides the robots and others I don't want to hear from) still call me on it. And it works in the rare case where Verizon is down in my area so my mobile phone can't reach out and touch someone.

Also works just as well as paying $20+taxes monthy to Spectrum, formerly Time Warner Cable. I'd reluctantly dropped the copper line 14 months ago. ATT's $35+ per month for local calling only, became just too absurd.

The MJ is plugged into one of the 4 jacks on my Linksys WRT 1900AC v2
router. So far I haven't heard a need to add QoS.
