Also you might check for used stuff. We got a Shure wireless mic set for about 1/3 new price a few years ago. I think it was slightly north of $200 at the time.

Since then bought a new no-name new dual mic wireless set for about $79 or $99 that has been a bit disappointing. You get what you pay for.

Something like this Peavey small system would work great. $470
I'd suggest staying with name brand equipment like Peavey, JBL, Yamaha, Fender or Bose.

The mics aren't wireless, if you need some I suggest these:
I've used 3 of them at a school and they have held-up well. Stay with name brand wireless like Shure, Sennheiser,  Audio-Technica, & AKG. I think Shure gives you the best deal right now.

I expect I should have given a little more information on the size of the building and the number of people and such.  Currently the group is meeting in a converted house.  I expect they will be outgrowing the building in the next year.  But they won't be moving into a large building for a while.  Also for mics. 2-3 would be sufficient for the time being.  They will probably get a few wired mics too. But that is further down the road.  For now something that would take care of a congregation of 50 would be adequate.    I expect the budget for the equipment is around $1,000 give or take.  I know that's not much but there is limited funding for now.

I have been asked to put together some recommendations for a small churches PA system.  Particularly I am interested in recommendations for Audio Mixers, Wireless Mics, and Digital Recorder. The budget is on the lower end but they still want quality gear. Any recommendations would be helpful.
