FABulous, Kevin. Awaiting more of the story!

WOW is all I have to say... I have seen a couple of partial eclipses but yesterday's total was an awesome experience. It is easy to understand how the ancients got so shook up over them.

I ended up running the SDR on my good I5 Toughbook and using the little Dell Netbook to log the SEQP. It really didn't matter. 20 meters was (and has been) horrible and I made a few contacts but nothing like I had hoped.

To make the little Netbook work would have required a dramatic decrease (probably 50%) in resource requirements. I already had everything set for minimal resources, absolute minimum background apps and it was still hesitating. Just not enough horsepower.

I have 4+ hrs of the AM band captured from 2 different sites and am doing a time lapse of the spectrum and waterfall of the hour in which our totality occurred. It is pretty cool to watch the signals start coming up at about 10-15 min before totality and then some to the east continued for almost 30 minutes. Sort of like a mid-day critical hours... For about 30-45 minutes there was a signal on every AM channel. Many of them are unintelligible due to hearing several co-channel signals at the same time. I knew that we had something going on when I glanced at the waterfall display and rather than the normal scattered lines, blips and splatters of signals I saw a screen covered side to side with the pinstripes of a busy spectrum.

It looks like the loop receiver at the center of totality received the signals much weaker but several minutes longer than the much larger 80m OCF dipole at the shop.

The number of cool things to do with the recordings is almost overwhelming.
