The piano dolly is better than you think. It will allow you to lift a really heavy object and pass it through a doorway when there is only a small fraction of an inch clearance top or sides. We moved a Harris FM20 with it a while back with almost zero door clearance. I was amazed at how easily it went.

Aaron,

To roll a transmitter, we've used the black Natural Gas pipes that you can buy at Menards.  I believe they're 3-4 feet long usually.  They're very rigid and shouldn't crush under the weight of that Continental.

So I'm about to remove a Continental 816R-2C. Rumor has it these transmitters can be pretty heavy. I know it can be removed because it was at one point installed, but I'm trying to "work smarter not throw my back out" as a wise man once said. The previous engineer informs me they muscled it through the doorway with crowbars and it was a pretty tight fit.

Any wisdom on making my life easier that doesn't involve cutting a bigger hole in the wall?

What's worked for you in the past? Ramps and rollers, simple-machines style? Pallet jacks? Magnetic levitation?
