Lyle,

Are you sure that it is a Gates 2 (ie, just an updated SX)?  They really aren't modular in the classic sense.  IE, I don't believe that you can just remove an RF or PDM amp board to send off for repair.  And if it is at exactly 50% pwr, it could be an RF problem, PDM amp problem, exciter/PDM generator problem or even a PS missing.  OR worse half a problem on any of those.

They are fairly easy to test and trouble shoot in the field.  The last time that I called Harris about the Gates series, they were able to offer pretty good troubleshooting advice.

I don't know if Mike monitors this list but he very likely might have working spare boards to swap.

The later model Harris AM's have removable RF modules but I have never worked on one and don't know if the tx will working missing one.

KTHO 590 near Reno, NV says they're at half power.  There are two power modules that feed a combiner to make the 2500 watts.  One of the modules is bad.  Gates Air asks big bucks for a new module, so he wants to get it repaired.  But if he takes either module out, it won't come on the air at all.

Mike Patton, I suppose you can fix this if someone can explain how to keep it on the air?
