Hey all,

Weird issue here. I use a rack-mounted PC running Ubuntu and the built-in Audio Recorder (via a cheap Behringer external sound card that accepts RCA input from the distribution amp and outputs to the microphone input on the PC via the standard microphone input). It's been working fine for over two years to record at certain times for archiving. It records MP3 in stereo then I convert to mono wav to edit, then back to MP3, using dBPowerAmp or Audition. Lately though, when I convert it adds a ton of noise and whine. The noise happens at the conversion to mono, not at the time of converting back to MP3. Any ideas?
