An ERI SPHX is about as strong as they come. Without radomes they are pretty forgiving for SWR with ice. We had an 8 bay in northern Montana last 17 years before the center section burned up. It had heavy icing  (6-12 inches of rime ice typical) several times every winter.

Contact me off list for a source of refurbished ERI rototiller antennas if you are interested.

We replaced a bkg77 with a PSI antenna. So far so good. That site gets a lot of wind and we would have to repair the antenna often.  http://www.psibroadcast.com/radio.php

We’re using the Nicom BKG77 medium power broadband circular antenna at a site where the antenna lasted less than two years.   First the mount bent, then an element was sheared off by heavy ice and wind.   Not falling ice, there is nothing above this antenna.

I’m not saying it isn’t a durable antenna, it’s just that this one site is especially brutal.  Very heavy icing and winds well over 100 mph are typical.   Many of the other antennas at the site were also damaged this past winter.

Is there a more durable antenna we could replace it with?
