I've heard what Dave is referring too....it might only be a few milliseconds, but the flanging effect in your head can be maddening. The Wheatstone system is barely if at all noticeable. But if your ears are accustomed to analog routing, it's noticeable.

On the console, we can't hear any latency. Off air has an echo effect but the operators don't use that hardly ever.

I will let you know,  I have all that stuff piled up in the corner of the engineering shop waiting for the studio construction to be completed.  We are replacing the original Wheatstone X Point digital distribution system here, long since out of production.

Bill,

Is that going well? I have a three studio client wanting to upgrade but doesn't have the full budget for an IQ system.  I've been thinking about doing just this, Air Series boards with Axia xNodes to start laying the infrastructure for the future.

Best,
Alex

I'm doing our 8 studio rebuilds here (at my day job at Cumulus) with Axia nodes for audio distribution and routing and analog consoles; Audioarts Air 5's and Air 1's. So we retain some of that audio routing flexibility of Axia but at lower cost.

I'm in love with Axia and the flexibility and support. It's a growing ecosystem that has really good support.

We use WheatNet. It's been fantastic.

I'm opposite of you, Bill. I prefer the Wheatstone look. But from a tech perspective, I also love Navigator, Glass E and all the other nuts and bolts.

I like the look of Axia, but some swear by Wheatstone aoip.  Any thoughts? I need  a simple 2 board setup with less than 8 sources at a time.
