Thread-topic: [CRTech] Reviving/testing legacy computers
Hi Alan

You said to contact you if the computer won't boot up to the hard drive.  I got the copy of Win95 and tried to boot it up and it won't even go through the boot up process. There is something clunking when it tries to turn on. I expect the hard drive is dead. So I'm not sure what to do at this point. A new hard drive is around $50.

Hello, Roger.

I actually have that same laptop upgraded to Win98 with larger drive, full RAM and an ethernet card. I just booted it up for fun and it is running fine. That's not bad for sitting in the closet without being tested for more than a decade.

If yours does not boot to the hard disk drive then contact me privately.

Hi Willy

Thanks for the tips. I will check on those things. I was able to find a copy of Win95. The computer is an old Del Inspiron 7000.  It will be interesting to see if it works.
