You mention the Belars are pegging the needles. Since your return telemetry data probably comes out of the Belar mod monitor, I would suspect they have gotten to the age where they need serviced.

And yes, trees will affect microwave paths. Just last year I had to have a station owner remove an evergreen about 200 feet from the transmit antenna on a 3 mile path because it was causing severe attenuation. The antenna on the parallel path next to said path was fine, no tree. Removed offending tree, 950 MHz STL audio restored to clean signal.

The lessons in all of this? Things change with time, sometimes internal, sometimes external. Equipment ages, tech changes, and the engineer gets older…whether we want to admit it or not!

Could a monitor FM receive yagi at your studios been blown sideways in the wind?   This would effect Belars and SCA receiver.

Thank you all for the input and Bill, I apologize for the scant information, it came from a scant brain. We are using a microwave and we use Martis for that and we have checked all connections. The Belars and Martis are in the studios. The computer aka. Auto Pilot doesn’t see any data and we have checked all those connections. Could tree growth be an issue. I have always been under the impression that trees would not be a problem for microwave?

Hey, Jeff…

“Blinky light syndrome” on an ARC-16 indicates the link has been lost. Check your data link from transmitter to studio—or if it’s an SCA, you’ve somehow lost the SCA signal.

Reaching into the well of wisdom…

We have been using the Burk  Arc-16 Version 4.6a system to link our studios to the transmitter for the last 24 years. As of late we have had issues with the system that perplex us. We have lost all readings from the transmitter. All the LED alarm lights are randomly blinking on and off, even the ones that are not assigned to anything. Also the needles on the Belars are pegging out. Has anyone experienced this before and if so what did you do to correct it? We have not been able to monitor levels or remotely control the transmitter since the 5th of May.

Seeking His wisdom and yours,
