I recently was gifted a 2004 Cadillac SLS. Nice ride, with a Bose radio that proudly advertises that it's got RDS decoding capability.

Rather oddly, though, it only displays RDS when you push the button, then it returns to the normal frequency/time display.

To me that's nearly as useless as not having RDS at all.

Very wide variations between different RDS radios.   Some display only PS.   Some seem to display only PS, but will also display RT only if you press an RT or Text button on the radio.  Most radio users do not know about pressing buttons.
