Years ago I was at a station with a 111C on the dedicated wire line to the
very noisy news teletype machine.   The 111C became available and sat on a
shelf when the teletype was retired, but didn't realize how good that
ancient coil was.   

 That old rip and read teletype was in its own sound proof closet to
minimize the noise.

I've never measured the frequency response, but have heard of people passing
composite through them when they had ground loop hum/noise. 
Apparently didn't hurt the stereo separation much, if at all.

I've never heard any discussion of the insulation in those coils, but expect
it is pretty good/high as they were usually on each end of lines that may
have been several miles long.
