For those who received and transmitted the test with good audio, please tell the FCC so when you fill out form 3. Which is not difficult.

With all due respect to the sometimes hassle of EAS, this turned out pretty good, so in the explanation box provided for in Form 3, one for receive and one for transmit, tell the feds "It sounded very good, congratulations".

Remember, this was done by committee!

And for those that got the tones and no audio, this is why it was a test. Compare your configurations to a station in your town that did OK.

What can cause a problem is if an LP1 or LP2 in front of you grabs the CAP message first, but mangles it, you will air that mangled mess. So if you had a mangled message, check with another station in the market who is downstream from you and see how they did. The NPR stations are usually very good in this area.

If you look at your log and your received CAP first, and you didn't have audio, then there may be a configuration problem with your box.

But please, fill out form 2 and 3, and if your test didn't go well, find out why, and document that and put it in your operational log.

Have a good rest of the week.

Tom BOsscher
